op National and International Developments Dominate Headlines as Security, Aviation and Judicial Concerns Intensify

Major national and international developments dominated headlines as an alleged Pulwama attack mastermind was killed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, an Air India aircraft suffered a tailstrike in Bengaluru, the Cockroach Janta Party account was withheld in India, the Calcutta High Court ordered a Special Investigation Team probe into the RG Kar case, and a United States report revealed heavy aircraft losses in operations against Iran.

A series of major developments across national security, aviation safety, judicial investigations and international conflict dominated headlines on Thursday, drawing renewed public and political attention to issues ranging from cross-border militancy to institutional accountability and military escalation.

In Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Hamza Burhan, an alleged mastermind linked to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Muzaffarabad. Burhan had been designated a terrorist by the Government of India in 2022 and was associated with the banned terror outfit Al Badr. His death has once again brought focus to individuals accused of orchestrating one of the deadliest terror attacks on Indian security personnel in recent years.

In a separate development, an Air India flight operating from Delhi to Bengaluru suffered a tailstrike while landing at Kempegowda International Airport. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members disembarked safely without injuries. Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded for a detailed technical inspection, while the scheduled return flight from Bengaluru to Delhi was cancelled. Air India stated that the matter would be investigated in accordance with established aviation safety procedures.

Meanwhile, the X account of the satirical online collective known as Cockroach Janta Party was withheld in India shortly after the group gained viral attention on social media platforms. The collective emerged amid controversy surrounding remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing. The Chief Justice later clarified that his comments had been misrepresented. Despite the restriction, the group launched a new account and continued publishing political satire online, keeping the controversy active in digital discourse.
